Data We Collect

• Sample Requests: When you request the free sample dataset, we collect your email address and the time of the request. Your email is also added to our launch list. If you email us, we keep what you choose to tell us about what you are building.
• Download Records: When you open your personal download link, we record that the sample was downloaded by that email address, and when, so we know which requests turned into evaluations.
• Attribution Data: When you arrive from a campaign or search ad, we store the campaign parameters from the landing URL (such as UTM tags or click identifiers), the referrer and the landing page in first-party cookies, so that a later sample request can be tied to the channel that brought you here.
• Usage Data: We collect technical data such as IP addresses and browser types to protect the site (for example, per-IP rate limiting on the sample form and the download endpoint, and bot verification) and, with consent where required, aggregated analytics about how the site is used.

How We Use Your Data

• To email you your personal sample download link and answer your questions about the sample.
• To notify you when The Food API launches, and to send occasional product announcements (such as a new sample release) to people on the launch list. Every such email includes the option to opt out, and you can always opt out by emailing support@thefoodapi.io.
• To understand which channels bring visitors and sample requests to the site.
• To enforce the sample licence, comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse of the site.

Data Sharing & Security

• No Selling of Personal Data: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
• Service Providers: We share data only with essential providers to operate the site: our hosting and database provider (Google Firebase), our email provider (Google Workspace), the file storage that serves the sample download (Cloudflare R2), and bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile).
• Security: We use industry-standard encryption in transit, time-limited signed download links, and restrict access to the data we hold.

Your Rights

You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, or ask for its deletion (including removal from the launch list), at any time by contacting us at support@thefoodapi.io.
